EMP Latin America's goal in Latin America and the Caribbean is to structure attractive private equity and mezzanine investments in infrastructure or growth companies in the region. We bring a disciplined, highly professional approach to this objective, while operating in a transparent manner and adhering to the highest standards of corporate governance.
We are the Principal Advisor for the $1.0 billion AIG-GE Capital Latin American Infrastructure Fund, which has made 24 investments. The portfolio is diversified widely throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, and covers a number of industry segments including telecommunications, electric power generation and distribution, transportation and petrochemicals. The fund is currently working to add value to its existing portfolio and to structure exits from its investments.
EMP Latin America has been investing in Latin America and the Caribbean since 1996. Our investment team is based in Washington DC, with a local office in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The team includes professionals with long experience in the region and in the industries on which we focus.
The region has experienced a relatively volatile economic climate over the last decade, but within the last few years many of the major economies have returned to growth. At the moment, our goal in the region is to maximize the returns to our existing investment portfolio, and to think innovatively with respect to the diverse investment opportunities in the region.
