EMP Latin America is a leading private equity and mezzanine fund manager for Latin America and the Caribbean. The region has experienced a relatively volatile economic climate over the last decade, but within the last few years many of the major economies have returned to more stable growth. At the moment, our goal in the region is to add value and create liquidity for our existing investment portfolio and to think innovatively with respect to the diverse investment opportunities in the region.

EMP Latin American Management LLC is the Principal Advisor to the AIG-GE Capital Latin American Infrastructure Fund (LAIF), a $1.01 billion fund established in 1996 to make equity investments in South America, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. At its establishment, it was the largest private equity fund operating exclusively in Latin America and the Caribbean. The sponsors of LAIF are American International Group ("AIG") and GE Capital Corporation ("GE"), whose combined investments comprise 30% of LAIF's capital.

LAIF has made 24 investments totaling over $800 million in the region. The fund focused on infrastructure investments in a number of sectors, including electric power, petrochemicals, telecommunications including cable television, fixed wireless and mobile, and in transportation, primarily in shipping and port developments.
